Haines, AK June 27-28



Haines, AK a small coastal town that connects the Alaska Highway and Yukon, Canada. It is home to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve (3,000+ eagles from Oct to Feb).

June 27th   Travel from Teslin to Whitehorse to Haines today.

Lars called these marble mountains because of the design of the snow melt,
they are actually three different mountain ranges called the Takhinsha, Kusawak, and Datlaska mountains

Skagway, AK is between the hills and hosts up to five cruise ships a day

We took a very chilly bike ride up to Chlkoot Lake & Campground
known as a bear, eagle, and salmon spawning area
$15 per night/camp spot

Rainbow Glacier—a hanging glacier with a huge waterfall dropping
 from its face and Davidson glacier to the left (would love to see this in the sunlight)

Out to the Chilkat Peninsula to Chilkat State Park to checkout the campground
